Privacy Policy

I’ve looked around for ways to handle this and have come to the conclusion that it’s just too complicated. Honestly, this isn’t a professional thing so I’m not wasting a lot of time thinking about it. Here’s what I know and what you need to know about what data collection on the site:

Who we are

Our website address is: https://justablog.co

But it’s mainly just me (Who are we kidding? It’s only me.)

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

I’m using a 3rd party service to handle comments, Disqus. Maybe you’ve heard of them. So any comments you make are available on your acount their platform.

Media

You can’t upload anything directly to the website, only via Disqus comments, which again are not hosted by me.

Contact forms

We have a contact form that requires your name and e-mail to use. This will be kept on a database. I can remove your info if you contact me asking to do so.

Cookies

We don’t use Cookies as far as I’m aware. Except for Disqus, but that’s between you and them I think? I’m not sure on that, but be warned that Disqus uses cookies I guess.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content. Including comment interactions.

This mainly applies to discuss and social media interactive buttons, like Facebook and Twitter

Analytics

We use google analytics to check traffic on the site and stuff. nothing out of the ordinary

Who we share your data with

No one. Maybe my cat.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. I can manage all that via Disqus. I’m almost sure that I don’t retain that data but Disqus does.

I plan on purging contact form data every 6 months or so. Just so I don’t have a giant blob of useless names and e-mails.

What rights you have over your data

If you have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Please don’t. This is a lot of work.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
