What is this?
Glad you asked.
Hi, I am Marco Antonio and this is my blog. I’ve wanted one for a while but suffering from chronic laziness I’d just decided to leave this for later. Well, not anymore.
Welcome to Just a Blog
I thought of making something more focused like a science blog, a physics blog, a video games blog, maybe even a cat blog. The fact is that I wanted a blog about the stuff I like, mostly because I wanted to talk about the stuff I like. It would be a place where I’d go whenever I felt like it to ramble on to myself and whoever wants to read it. My little corner on the internet to post my thoughts to the public.
Unfortunately I like a lot of stuff. I couldn’t quite decide on something to talk about because I’d obviously want to talk about other stuff as well and I don’t have the mental capacity, the time or the money to run a bazillion sites about different things. Enter “Just a Blog”.
That’s it. As the name says this is just a blog, my blog, to post about stuff I want to write about. I’m not a writer and I hear from pretty much everyone that my writing sucks so brace for poorly worded texts I guess.
Also, this is just for fun. I’m committed to having fun, not maintaining a website. This can go belly up tomorrow for all I care.
Who are you again?
My full name is Marco Antonio Barroca, I’m a Gen Y twenty-something physicist wannabe.
That’s not entirely accurate, I’m an actual physicist. At least that’s what my master’s diploma says. I can’t say I feel any different now than I did 6 years ago. Maybe more tired, that’s what you get for getting old I guess. I’m also starting my Ph.D. soonTM.
I’m interested in tech stuff as well. Not just consumer tech, I have some programming skills, at least the programming skills a physicist might need. Professionally, I work using IBM’s QISKit and their quantum computers, I also use Mathematica a lot to run some calculations. As a hobby, I mess around with some Linux and Android distros, do home network configuration, like setting up a NAS or a Pi-hole. This website was a tech experiment at some point (I don’t recommend hosting your own webserver).
Besides that, I’m a pretty generic guy. I like movies, games, anime, TV, books, anything that can make the eventual heat death of the universe less painful. Oh hey! It looks like I’m a nihilist as well, how original.
That’s pretty much who I am and what you can expect to see here. Physics, Tech, and Entertainment Media. That’s an odd combo I guess. Or not, we are never as original as we think (see above).
